Who is Noni?

Run by mother and daughter team Jackie and Jemma, Noni’s Family Kitchen seemed to be the perfect name for our home based business. The heart of the home is definitely the kitchen and is where Noni - grandchildren Leonardo and Gabriella's name for Jackie - develops ideas for their delicious scotch eggs. No flavour manages to escape the kitchen without being given the seal of approval from Leonardo and Gabriella who count themselves as the number 1 fans of a Noni’s scotch egg.

WHERE IT BEGAN

Jackie wanting to find an alternative to a sandwich whilst following a low fat eating plan and always being a fan of experimenting in the kitchen, decided to have a go at a low fat scotch egg. After sourcing some really lovely local ingredients including fresh herbs from the garden and a bit of trial and error soon a baked Noni’s scotch egg was being enjoyed not only herself but friends and family too.

After the decision for a change of direction in her career soon Jackie was being asked to make scotch eggs for more and more people including local businesses. Within only a few months the business had grown to the extent that a decision to grow was inevitable, there was no need to look far as the perfect person to join the business was Jemma, Jackie’s daughter who brought a very much needed extra pair of hands to the kitchen, and who also shares the same values about not compromising on quality and flavours to get the perfect end result.

Fortunately they also share the same sense of humour and thankfully tastes in music which fills the kitchen whilst the work.

HOW NONI'S IS GROWING

Many 1000s of scotch eggs later and we were finalists in the 2019 New Business of the Year category  at the Women in Business Awards. Jackie and Jemma are still coming up with new ideas for flavours and are still getting used to being called “The Scotch Egg Ladies“ by their customers.

We work out of our 5 star hygiene rated kitchen in Broughton Astley and our products are enjoyed by many across Leicestershire and beyond. We supply both businesses and public alike and have a regular client base, including cafes, delicatessens, butchers, real ale establishments, farm shops and garden centres. We were the first home-based business to receive full approval from Harborough District Council for selling business to business, which gives confidence to
retailers knowing that we have full traceability of ingredients and that our products are regularly tested to ensure the shelf life of six days from supply is guaranteed when our scotch eggs are kept refridgerated.
